Emmet Till

Emmett Louis Till.

Ahora quieren unir tu cuerpo
con el pegamento hediondo de la justicia,
el tiempo a pasado, desde la orilla
de tus ojos veo el manantial
de nuestras luchas.

Tenías catorce años,
solo por mirar
con tu piel negra
o que tu voz se alzara,
con tu piel negra
o el sonido del viento
con tu piel negra,
o el movimiento de las hojas
con tu piel negra
ya con eso sobre tus hombros
fuiste acusado por el susurro sibilino
de pequeñas serpientes envenenadas
embelesadas en la amargura
de los odios por la piel.

Emmett Louis Till
no pueden ahogar  la verdad.

Emmett Louis Till.

They can not bury the truth.

Why did they kill you?
the birds ask on flush flight
between a white sky,
through the roofs of Money, Mississippi,
mothers mourn at night
torrid, next to the waters of Tallahatchie,
it was the sharp, sharp conclusive lie
of thirsty tongues in hatred
wrapped you in barbed wire.

Under the bridges, on the banks of the rivers
propitious space to search our destinations,
they found you broken and your face asking
Why?

Now they want to unite your body
with the smelly glue of justice,
the time past, from the shore
from your eyes I see the spring
of our struggles.

You were fourteen years old,
just by looking
with your black skin
or that your voice will rise,
with your black skin
or the sound of the wind
with your black skin,
or the movement of the leaves
with your black skin
already with that on your shoulders
you were accused by the sibylline whisper
of small poisoned snakes
spellbound in the bitterness
of hatreds through the skin.

Emmett Louis Till
they can not drown the truth.
