Entre el 21 y 24 de junio, en el solsticio de invierno, el pueblo Mapuche celebra la “nueva salida del Sol y la Luna”. En el hemisferio sur empieza el invierno, y para el pueblo Mapuche empieza un nuevo año, celebran un nuevo comienzo en el ciclo de la Madre Tierra, en la noche más larga del año.

Between June 21 and 24 at the winter solstice, the Mapuche people celebrate the "new sunrise and the moon." In the southern hemisphere winter begins, and the Mapuche people begin a new year, celebrate a new beginning in the cycle of Mother Earth, in the longest night of the year.

La vida vuelve a renacer entre las alegrías

de “La ñuke mapu”* trayendo enredada entre

sus raíces los brazos solidarios del sol

con el límpido anuncio

por la renovación del “Mongeñ”*

por la renovación de la naturaleza,

por la renovación de la lucha,

tu gente de la tierra

regenera sus esperanzas con el agua

pura de los ríos y en la distancia

al ritmo del kultrún, trutrucas,

pifilcas y cadcawilas,

caminas rcorriendo los cuatro

puntos cardinales para reunirte

en el centro de los sueños,

con las esperanzas, los anhelos

y tus perseverancias en la contienda

cotidiana por la tierra, tu madre tierra.

Life reborn among the joys

"La mapu ñuke" *bringing tangled 

in its roots the solidarity arms of the sun

with the limpid forewarning

of the the renewal of the "mongen" *

for the renewal of nature,

for the renewal of the struggle,

you people of earth

regenerates their hopes with water

pure of the rivers and in the distance

with the rhythm of kultrún, trutrucas,

pifilcas and cadcawilas,

you walk going over the four

cardinal points to reunite

in the center of dreams,

with hopes, desires

and your perseverance in the daily

race for the  land, your mother earth.
